The pivot cup itself is actually patent pending technology. It’s made of nylon 6, which is a low friction, abrasion resistant material. The tip of the pivot cup has an “Air Gap.” The Air Gap is a hole at the bottom of the cup which makes the ball self-centering and also holds any debris that is swept into it by three interior cleaning grooves molded into the pivot cup itself. This self-cleaning mechanism traps any debris that might cause damage or excessive wear to the pivot cup or ball, increasing the lifespan and performance of both.
The hole itself is actually threaded so you can use your axle to easily remove the cup from the pivot cavity for cleaning. Finally, the outside of the pivot cup has subtle molded fins which wedge the cup into the pivot cavity to make for a press-in zero tolerance fit.
