Hydroflex Composite Skateboards – The Angler deck review

Weight – First impression

The first thing we noticed was the Angler’s weight and how, on first appearance, we all thought it’d weight less.  Our point of comparison was the Rayne Avenger 2012 with Fat Bottom core since it shares similar surface area to the angler. With a bit of grip tape and no trucks mounted we weighed the Angler at 4lb 13oz(2.18KG) and the Avenger at 4lb 5.6oz (1.974kg).

Turns out that once the Angler’s honeycomb high density PET foam and fibre sheets are infused with epoxy resin it gains quite a bit of weight. It is on par with Rayne’s fat bottom core technology but not as light as the high end composite carbon fibre decks out there. But since most decks are still made with a traditional 8-ply solid maple, Hydroflex 3D-Glassing™ Technology is indeed lighter.
