Cruisin for a Cause

Cruisin for a Cause is a project thought up by Danny Page with help from his brother Matt Page. Cruisin for a Cause is a project where skaters of all kinds are invited to skate for many diseases/disorders/disabilities to help show support and raise awareness by holding group skates where everyone is welcome to join the team hosting the skate while spreading awareness for the Cause being skated for.

Starting Friday, August 10, 2012 the team began riding for 8 causes, each being ridden for two weeks, while doing so T-shirts, stickers, and other free items were handed out to participants and bystanders the team ran into while doing their series of treks. The team began by riding around the Tri-Cities in Washington State where they began the project, and team member Danny Page has made trips to Seattle, Yakima, Spokane, Pullman, and Portland to spread awareness in just their first year. The team has strong hopes to be able to travel around visiting many more cities around the region. At the end of the first year, Cruisin’ for a Cause was ready to expand, making it possible for other skaters from all over the world to submit applications to be a part of the Cruisin’ for a Cause family.

The next big step for Cruisin’ for a Cause is when the founding team in, Tri-Cities, Washington, will skate to the well-known Maryhill Loops Rd. just outside of Goldendale Washington. The team made plans to meet up at their local skate shop, Mad Monkey Boardshop, in the early morning hours of June 24, 2013 and skate 100 miles in one session to the Maryhill Festival of Speed. The team also made plans to hold conditioning sessions in the months leading up to the expedition to assure the team safety and build up their skills for the big hills they will need to skate both up and down to get there. The team also will have a support vehicle that will make the trek with them for safety. To finish off the trek right the team will spend the week at Maryhill Festival of Speed where people are invited to meet them in person and talk with them face to face and get to know them a little better.

Our goal is to use Longboarding to get the public’s attention in a positive manner, to re-inform them of the nature of skating, spreading awareness of the causes, stoke, and making friends through longboarding.
