So, this is me at 33. That’s my daughter, Maya at 3. She’s now 18. Even back then I firmly believed in the quiver theory. The truth is that my collection of longboards is quite a bit bigger (please, don’t tell my wife!)
As for the skaters..well, this is a shot of the infamous Metro Longboarders. Yes, Virginia, Toronto had longboarders back in the 90’s! Wonder what happened to these cats? This was taken in 98!
Michael Brooke is an author, skater, publisher and one of the biggest advocates of longboarding. Born in 1964 in Leeds, England he moved to Canada in 1972 and has made it his home.
He is the author of Best Selling book ‘The Concrete Wave: The History of Skateboarding‘ and the founder/publisher/editor of Concrete Wave, the magazine.
He can be quoted saying ‘longboarding is changing the face of skateboarding’
