New York, NY: Adrenalina Skateboard Marathon NYC Highlights. A battle of fitness, endurance, and action sports… Best of all $15,000 for the winner. Jeff Vyain confirm his dominance isteh discipline of long distance pushing.
From the USADSA:
Over the weekend, Governor’s Island in New York City set the stage for the first leg of the Adrenalina Skateboard Marathon Tour, a USA Distance Skateboard Association (USADSA) sanctioned event. In the first marathon, since last November’s race in Hallandale Beach, Florida, the day was nothing short of spectacular. On a beautiful New York morning, one-hundred and sixty people vied for a $15,000 first-place prize, but just two men set the standard for what it was going to take to not only win that day, but throughout the tour. Jeff “The Wiggler” Vyain of Brooklyn, NY and Paul Kent of Calgary, Canada, battled like they had been taking on each other for years. Lap by lap, spectators anxiously watched to see who was leading and if any separation had been created between the two of them, but none came until the final lap. Ultimately, Jeff Vyain remained the only winner the Adrenalina Skateboard Marathon has yet to see with a record shattering finish time of 1:31:41. It was hard to call Paul Kent a loser, though, as Kent and Vyain finished well ahead of the rest of the racers. Jeff wasn’t the only one breaking records, as Cami “The Beast” Best broke the women’s record with a time of 1:59:16. Twelve racers finished with times that broke previous top times from Hallandale Beach’s race, with eight men and four females doing so.
The day was filled with family fun to go along with the marathon. The mini marathon gave new and young skaters a chance to participate in the race and experience the thrill of racing. The long skate expo gave all of the industry vendors a chance to showcase their stuff to all the boarders. All the while, the music of Ill Spoken, Ferrari Snowday and Sangha Tierra, kept everyone smiling and grooving.
The USADSA tour continues with another Adrenalina Skateboard Marathon on August 28 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
